Festivals Of Alicante The festivals of Alicante are famous all around the world. The most famous festival of the city is Hogueras de San Juan, St John’s Bonfires. It is a unique celebration and you may experience an ideal time in the city via this festival. Another famous festival of the city is Santa Faz Pilgrimage, and around 200, 000 people move towards Monasterio de Santa Faz to attend this event. New Year Concert, "Porrate" de San Antón (Pets blessing) and Procession of the three wise men (Parade of Floats) are the three major festivals of Alicante, which are celebrated in the month of January. The only event, which is held in February, is Carnival. It is a masked balls competition and is organised at street parades. Ester week is celebrated in the month of March or April. Many processions and exhibitions are organised during this festival. Monas de Pascua, Alicante Artists Winter Exhibition, and Santa Faz Pilgrimage (two Thursdays after Easter Thursday) are also some of the main events of the months of March and April. A holy week, known as Semana Santa, is also celebrated in April, and about 20,000 people move towards the streets for the procession. Some other major festivals that are celebrated from June to November include Cruces de Mayo, Moros y Cristianos, Hogueras de San Juan, Medieval Market, Virgen Del Carmen, Santa Barbara Castle nights, Virgen Del Socorro, and Santa Barbara Castle nights. Cruces de Mayo is celebrated in the first week of June and Mercado Medieval (Medieval Market) is celebrated in the last week of June. Nuestra Senora del Remedio is held in the month of August to pay tribute to Alicante’s patron saint. Moreover, International Puppet Festival, in December, is the main attractions for tourists. The transportation system of the city is well developed so, you can use public transport if you want to visit all the locations in the city.
